Britt’s Diesel & Automotive is looking for a motivated/ hardworking certified diesel mechanic who can perform repairs and inspections on heavy and light duty diesel vehicles and trailers. This position is located in Bishop, CA. Bishop is the home to world-class hiking, fishing, hunting, bouldering, mountain-climbing and amazing 4×4 off-road mountain trails. Our shop provides an opportunity to work in a unique environment, with the Eastern Sierra and White Mountain ranges at our back and front doors.

Certified Diesel Mechanic Essential Functions: (includes but not limited to)

  • Diagnose defects in heavy-duty equipment
  • Identify parts needed for various projects
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work area and follow safety rules
  • Assist in maintaining an accurate schedule and record of maintenance
  • Ability to understand and comply with various equipment permitting requirement
  • Attend special training and familiarization workshops dealing with innovations in heavy equipment operations, repairs, and maintenance
  • Ability to navigate a parts inventory database
  • Perform welding operations on equipment
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

Tire Tech

General Job Description:

This full-time, secure position is located in Bishop, CA. Bishop is the home to world-class hiking, fishing, camping, hunting, bouldering, mountain-climbing and amazing 4×4 off-road mountain trails. Our tire shop provides an opportunity to work in a unique environment, with the Eastern Sierra and White Mountain ranges at our back and front doors. Medical and 401K benefits included.

Tire Tech will install and maintain tires and wheels; repairing, rotating, and inflating tires; attaching and rebalancing wheels; installing/rebuilding and/or relearning/calibrating TPMS; washing tires and wheels; using and maintenance of equipment; assisting other employees; test driving vehicles; and operating service vehicles to perform offsite and emergency road services. Provides excellent customer service, promotes tire sales and engages customers, repairs and replaces tires as requested by customers and maximizes shop profitability by controlling expenses, protecting company assets, and by ensuring that our tire shop standards and processes for customer care, merchandising and operations are consistent and well-executed.

Essential Functions: (includes but not limited to)

  • Personally, demonstrates high level of customer engagement.
  • Ensures Britt’s Diesel & Automotive standards for cleanliness for the shop floor, stock, restroom, and garages.
  • Controls tire inventory.
  • Maintain building and equipment.
  • Prepares paperwork associated with customers’ tire service, etc.
  • Demonstrates leadership in driving tire sales and profitability.
  • Monitors tire inventory and supplies; receives and re-stocks supplies as needed.
  • Operate customer software and look up information for various customers’ needs.
  • Prepare and inspect work orders.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and Federal and State Environmental regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum three to five (5) years’ experience working in the tire industry preferred, willing to train the right candidate.
  • High school degree or equivalent and a valid driver’s license
  • Computer literate
  • Eligible to work in the United States

Typical Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently stand and walk
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch; corrected hearing and vision to normal range;
  • Able to work extended days when necessary

Typical Working Conditions:

  • Work in a tire shop environment
  • Work may be performed outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions
  • Some work is performed alone and in remote locations
  • Work is performed in an environment with constant noise
  • Exposure to gases, solvents, fumes, dust, grease and oils
  • Exposure to moving equipment
  • Work hours may occasionally be irregular due to seasonal conditions
  • Contact with staff and the public
